"King of the Opera" – the star tenor Plácido Domingo, born 1941 in Madrid has more to offer than just his serious title. Plácido Domingo was born with an unusually flexible voice and learned how to superbly use it. As a child he studied piano and voice while captivating stages all over the world- he has performed in more New York MET premiers than any other performer besides Caruso. Domingo conquered virtually all of the difficult Opera stories from Verdi and Offenbach to Wagner. His biggest asset is that he does not disdain to develop into a modern master in his field. His biggest pleasure was and still is to use his talent to make others happy. This is only possible when everyone can hear the nuances of his voice. This belief makes him an ideal ambassador for the
Hear the World initiative. Since 1973 Domingo works as director and since 1996 he is the musical director of the Washington Opera. Not long ago, Plácido Domingo was recognized for his lifetime achievements with the Cannes Classical Award.
