Ernst Daniël Smid is the first Dutch Ambassador for Hear the World
2009-01-23, Netherlands
Ernst Daniël Smid has worked his entire life to improve and expand the accessibility of classical music in general and vocal music in particular. He never neglects to offer a personal – not only musical – journey to everyone, even those who may not realize how passionate composers, singers and directors are about their work.
He is keen to use every possible medium to convey his message. When he was asked to become an Ambassador for Hear the World he immediately agreed. "The passion for music is my life, so good hearing is very important".
In his many years of experience in theaters he has seen first hand how inadequate the protection of hearing often is. It might not seem logical to protect your ears when you go to a concert, particularly if it is your profession. However our ears are quite susceptible to damage from frequent or prolonged exposure to such loud sounds. For this reason he gladly committed himself to contribute to increasing awareness of the importance of good hearing.
Ernst Daniël Smid has been a real standout in promoting classical music for 30 years. He built his career gradually starting in small theaters, eventually rising to the level of prestige of Carnegie Hall in New York. He is a renowned musician whose performances and passion have inspired great appreciation for all facets of classical music.
