Allergies Can Cause Sudden Hearing Loss

by joey_allergy 2010-02-01

In 2006 I suffered a 60db single-sided sudden sensorineural hearing loss, followed later by vertigo attacks and a diagnosis of Meniere’s Disease. I have since made a full recovery after suffering for 3 years.

In my case these symptoms were the result a food allergy (which I have also recovered from). I wrote up my experience in a web-log to help others, including all diagnostic tests and resources.

Thank You for taking the time to post this information & link to your site.
I am currently experiencing SSHL (since april26th) and believe this information is very helpful.. I'm on the steriods, have regained a small portion of hearing back w/tinnitus..which thankfully has subsided for now...but still going through the process...I'm meeting my Otologist tomorrow here in NYC and will further discuss setting up an appointment asap with an immunologist/allergist who does these allergy tests... I've already eliminated coffee & choc from my diet on day 1, after briefly reading articles online scrambling for any relief & answers ....I've switched doctors to a better facility .. long story, the only thing that concerns me is that they don't link allergy to hearing loss... the doctors are sometimes geared in one direction.. but I will change that ...I find your posting to be the most beneficial one posted here ... thanks again, JaniceK
