» Read the post2 years ago my husband and I found out that our 6 year old girl has mild-moderate hearing loss. We sort of knew it through the years but her Pediatricians said that she was "fine". It wasn't until she started Kindergarten that her teacher noticed something and had her tested at the school. Now after 2 years, living with hearing aids, she's a different child. » Read the postI am 22 and I have been Deaf since birth. Since leaving school, the difficulties and lack of understanding I have faced is astounding. I have started a blog of my experience as a Deaf girl: http://www.landofthebumblyboo.blogspot.com I have never seen much in the way of awareness and was so pleased to come across this website and the 'Hear the World' campaign. I hear the speech but sometimes I have problems with understanding the speech of strangers, and I don't hear if people are far distance from me. While I have my years of schooling, I sit on the first table near the teacher. And it gives me a chance to hear clearly the speech. I think that in future I must use a hear aid. Or may be I ought to...
» Read the postI awoke one morning to a loud ringing, and mistakenly thought that the fire alarm was going off, After a few minutes of scrambling, I realised that it was coming from inside my right ear. The anguish i suffered that day will live long in my memory, I did not want to do anything, I longed for quiet. Well from then it has been a gradual loss of hearing, but a good left ear, now six months later that ear has lost hearing as well. I'm scheduled for an MRI, but this is unbearable, I'm forever saying...
