Medical resonance therapy (Part 3/5)

One present-day method, medical resonance therapy music, follows on from the Pythagorean harmony laws. It is based on the music of composer and musical theoretician Peter Hübner, who uses nature’s harmony laws for something known as “digital pharmaceutics”, which he considers – in a similarly exaggerated way to Pythagoras – a new branch of medicine. The way this works is described as follows by a pharmacist who swears by medical resonance therapy – in short, MRT: “It is based on the principle of resonance. This means that the precise harmony that is contained in these special musical structures produces in the organism resonance from the ears to the brain and from the brain to the various organs. The harmony within the music stimulates
the reestablishment of biological order. It harmonizes and regenerates the whole body, leading it to a gradual recovery.”

MRT music is used especially in illnesses where stress is one of the causes. At the World Health Organization (WHO) conference “Society, stress and health”, MRT music was attested to be the “most successful anti-stress medium in the world”. One thing is for certain: In combination with medicinal treatments, it is a beneficial factor in relief or healing. However, it still remains to be proven whether this adjuvant effect leads to significant improvement in the case of heart disease, eczema and psoriasis, disorders of the immune system and severe pain, as proponents of this treatment assert. Nevertheless, it has been demonstrated that in the case of pain, it can have positive effects because the body’s own natural morphine is activated. The method is also helpful in cases of high blood pressure, restlessness, anxiety, sleep disorders and neurophysiological disorders, as can be seen from investigations over the past four years conducted as part of both illness prevention and the treatment of sick pregnant women. According to these, MRT music resulted in the normalization of sleep patterns in 68% of pregnant women with sleep disorders. Blood pressure was reduced in 34% of women with hypertension, the increased level of the stress hormones cortisol and es tradiol fell by 17% and the general psycho-physiological state improved in 68% of patients in the MRT music group.
