Seewald Annual Award
The Hear the World Foundation creates the Richard Seewald Annual Award for Childhood Hearing
The Hear the World Foundation today announced that it has created an award named after Pro. Richard Seewald, an internationally renowned and respected pediatric audiologist, to honor his dedication to children with hearing loss. The award is funded by the foundation with an annual budget of $20,000 and will be awarded for the first time in April 2008. The announcement of the award was made on the occasion of the pediatric conference held in Chicago from December 6-8, 2007.

The Hear the World magazine has won the iF communication design award 2007 and thus its second award after the Best of Corparate Publishing Award. The iF awards are among the most prestigious design awards worldwide. At the presentation of prizes on August 31, 2007, in Munich, the magazine came out on top in the print media category.

At the presentation of prizes on June 27, 2007, in Munich, the magazine came out on top in the non-profit category of end-user magazines. The competition, the greatest of its kind in Europe, is organized annually by the Forum Corporate Publishing (FCP) under the patronage of the Federal Minister of Economy, Michael Glos. This year, a total of 580 corporate publications were submitted in 27 categories.

My journey up Kilimanjaro was one of the most physically and mentally demanding days of my life.
Since we spent most of our summit hours in the night, the demands on my visual and hearing system were extraordinary. I experienced the full range of emotions ranging from frustration, concern, danger, fatigue, hope, excitement and victory! Despite this, these feelings did not make me unique...this emotional rollercoaster is common with climbers on summit day...not everyone makes it. So when you do summit Kilimanjaro it is a feeling like no other!

Official inauguration of the Hear the World Sound Island in Salzburg
Visitors experience their sense of hearing in a creative way – an important step towards understanding its importance. “On a daily basis, the sounds of a city are not really perceived in a conscious manner at all – or at most the irritating factors such as building noise. However, the sounds of Salzburg are a large part of its character”, says Dr. Heinz Schaden, Salzburg’s Mayor, with enthusiasm. Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, President of the Salzburg Festival adds: „Salzburg is known as the “City of Music” – not only once a year on the occasion of the Festival. I am proud to see Salzburg present itself in a different light with the Sound Island”. Hear the World raises hearing awareness at Carnegie Hall, New York
From March 2nd to 4th, the Vienna Philharmonic's concert tour took the Hear the World ambassadors to Carnegie Hall in New York. Hear the World used this extraordinary event to further create awareness for the topic of hearing and hearing loss. While the world renowned orchestra rehearsed with conductor Daniel Barenboim and pianist Lang Lang inside, the Hear the World team, in cooperation with the League for the Hard of Hearing, conducted hearing examinations in a truck parked outside Carnegie Hall on Seventh Avenue. Flyers with information on the dangers of loud noise and tips on preventing and correcting hearing loss were handed out on the streets, while attendees of the three Vienna Philharmonic concerts received the first issue of the Hear the World magazine.Hear the World, in partnership with WNYC, National Public Radio's local affiliate, also distributed tickets to Saturday's private Vienna Philharmonic rehearsal to ten listeners and their guests.
