Enjoy the Sounds of the Holidays
For many of us, the holiday season is a time to celebrate and relax with family and friends. However, for those living with hearing loss, it can also be a difficult and frustrating time. Large gatherings, music and the rapid pace of holiday activities all contribute to isolating those who have difficulty hearing. In fact, the National Council on Aging found that adults who had untreated hearing loss were more likely to report feelings of depression and anxiety than those whose hearing loss had been treated.

When coping with an untreated hearing loss, a workday can be particularly long and strenuous. Not only does one expend extra energy to follow a conversation when your hearing is reduced – and don’t have the hearing system you actually need – many of the affected people are also fearful that co-workers or superiors will learn about their hearing loss and show favouritism or prejudice.

IPRA Award
Phonak and Fleishman-Hillard took home an award for their Hear the World campaign in the category of “Creativity"
For a year and a half Phonak, the leading maker of hearing systems, has been working with Fleishman-Hillard Munich on an initiative to create awareness and sensitivity in the world towards the topic of hearing and hearing loss. Efforts from traditional media relations, specific creative elements such as “Musician in a Box” and various grass-roots activities have effectively supported the awareness campaign.
