Shaping the future of assistive technology

Hear the World Foundation is excited to have contributed to the newly launched Assistive Products Market Report 2025, developed by ATscale and the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI).

The foundation provided input, content expertise, and peer review as part of a global effort to improve access to assistive technology, with the inclusion of hearing aids specifically in the low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) context.

The report was launched during ATscale and CHAI’s second webinar, Discussion Series on Market Shaping in the Assistive Technology Sector, where the Hear the World also participated in the panel discussion. The event focused on the demand landscape for assistive products, addressing key barriers such as fragmented procurement, limited supply chain capacity, and affordability issues that disproportionately impact LMICs.

With 65–95% of those in need of assistive products still lacking access, the report offers timely, actionable strategies to build healthier, more equitable markets.

As a corporate foundation working at the intersection of private sector innovation and social purpose, the foundation shared its four-pronged approach to tackling these challenges:

  • Bridge-building between the hearing care industry and LMIC health systems by sharing expertise, technology, and training.
  • De-risking innovation by funding pilot programs that explore new service delivery models and approaches.
  • Building long-term partnerships with NGOs, healthcare providers, universities, and governments.
  • Raising awareness and advocating for systemic change by equipping partners with data, tools, and technical support.

Hear the World Foundation remains committed to collaborative, cross-sector efforts to make assistive products, most especially hearing care, more accessible and sustainable.
